Kingston (Jamaica), April 25 (IANS): American Tyson Gay will compete in the menÂ’s 100 metre sprint at the Jamaica International Invitational carded for May 7 at the National Stadium, the organisers have confirmed.

Gay, 33, joins compatriots Mike Rogers and Ryan Bailey, who were earlier confirmed for the marquee event, reports CMC.

The World Championships sprint double gold medallist is the second fastest man so far behind JamaicaÂ’s Usain Bolt.

Gay was scheduled to compete in the Jamaica Invitational in 2013 but was disqualified after false-starting.

Other top athletes confirmed for the event include World and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, World Championships 100m hurdles gold medallist Danielle Williams, World Championships 200m silver medallist Elaine Thompson.

Commonwealth Games 200m champion Rasheed Dwyer, Canadian sprint sensation Andre De Grasse, former world record holder Asafa Powell and American World Championships and Olympic Games gold medallist Sanya Richards-Ross will also take part.

Additionally, all four members of the Jamaica womenÂ’s 4x400m team that won the gold medal at the World Championships last year are also down to compete.
