Bengaluru, April 22 (IANS): Royal Challengers Bangalore called up South African chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi to replace the injured West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.
Shamsi will be available for selection for the RCB subject to the completion of contractual paperwork formalities, according to an IPL statement.
Johannesburg-born Tabraiz performed impressively in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) held recently where he was the leading wicket-taker for his franchise with 11 wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore chairman, Amrit Thomas said in the statement: "RCB is pleased to have signed in SA's left arm chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi for injured Badree. He is highly skillful with a lot of variations, and has had success in SA's domestic cricket as well as in the CPL this year. While we will miss Samuel Badree, we are excited about the variety that Shamsi brings to our bowling attack."
