New Delhi, Sep 22: India is among the five countries that has won the election to become member of International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) council.
"India, China, Brazil, Spain and the Netherlands have won the election of ISO Council, which is responsible for the function of ISO," Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) spokesperson said.
India would be member of the ISO council for two years starting January 2008, he said, adding the election was held today.
"By being a member of the council, India will be in better position to represent and also to safeguard the Indian industry and consumers," the spokesperson said.
