Udupi, Nov 21: The Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) marked the beginning of the festive season with its annual Christmas Fruit Mixing Ceremony, held on November 21 at the ‘Lavana restaurant WGSHA. The event brought together students, faculty, the MAHE leadership team, the Pai family, administrative heads and Christmas enthusiasts to partake in this cherished tradition of preparing the iconic Christmas fruit cake.
The event was graced by the presence of Vasanti R Pai, trustee of MAHE, who served as the chief guest. She emphasized the deeper significance of Christmas, highlighting the ceremony’s embodiment of love, warmth, and collective goodwill. She expressed that the fruit mixture not only symbolizes festive celebrations but also reflects the community’s unity and shared spirit.ceremonial mixing of ingredients, which included raisins, candied peel, dates, cherries, and a variety of aromatic spices.
Dr P Rajshekhar, principal-in-charge of WGSHA, warmly welcomed the attendees, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and festive cheer. The venue was adorned with traditional decorations and twinkling lights, complemented by the sweet aroma of spices that evoked the spirit of Christmas. Attendees, dressed in chef hats and aprons, eagerly engaged in the ceremonial mixing of ingredients, which included raisins, candied peel, dates, cherries, and an array of aromatic spices.
Guided by WGSHA's skilled chefs and enthusiastic students, the fruit mixing process was both a learning experience and a joyful celebration. The event’s atmosphere was filled with warmth and unity, reflecting the true essence of the holiday season.
Dr P Rajshekhar expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. He remarked, “The Christmas Fruit Mixing Ceremony is a beloved tradition that brings our community together. The enthusiasm and generosity displayed today are truly heart-warming.”
Also in attendance were Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, vice-chancellor of MAHE, Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of MAHE, and other distinguished dignitaries and Heads of Constituent Units of MAHE. Guests were served a delightful hi-tea prepared by WGSHA students and faculty, showcasing the institution’s culinary expertise.
