Mumbai, Sep 18: The Meghwadi police arrested Sandeep Goswami, 20, for allegedly stealing motorcycles from Jogeshwari on Sunday. While his father, an assistant police inspector, worked hard to catch criminals, Goswami stole motorbikes to impress his friends. He would show-off the stolen bikes to his friends, take them for rides and perform stunts on them. Once the bike ran out of petrol, Goswami would abandon the motorbikes.
Goswami, a call centre employee, has apparently been stealing bikes for the past four years. In the past one month Goswami had stolen more than 10 motorcycles. “We arrested Goswami from Samarth Nagar in Jogeshwari east,” said police inspector Jayant Surve of Meghwadi police station.
Surve added that Goswami could unlock the handle of the motorcycle and start the vehicle with a set of duplicate keys. “He has been remanded in judicial custody.”
Based on the information given by Goswami, the police have recovered five motorcycles from Mulund and Jogeshwari.
