Vina del Mar (Chile), Nov 9 (IANS): Belgium defeated Mexico 3-2 to secure the third place in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
Dante Vanzier scored the third and definitive goal to lead his team to the third place win here on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
The first half of the game had a very good rhythm with great offensive play from both teams.
The first goal of Belgium was scored by Dennis Van Vaerenbergh, helped by Vanzier, in the 54th minute.
But then, Mexico overcame some minutes of disorder and began to attack with Ricardo Marin equalising in the 58th minute via a penalty.
But due to the mistakes of the Mexican defence, Vanzier scored the 2-1 in the 73rd minute.
Belgian captain Faes was expelled in the 71st minute for getting two yellow cards. Mexico tried hard to take advantage and Francisco Venegas scored to tie the score at 2-2 in the 89th minute.
It seemed the game was going to be decided on penalties, but the magic of Vanzier appeared again. He scored Belgium's third goal in the 93rd minute.
