Manipal, Oct 13: Urban development and district- in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake held a press meet after public grievance meeting with Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes at Rajathadri here on Tuesday, October 13.
During the press meet, Sorake said that information will be collected within three months about the total DC manna lands in the district.
Speaking about the general health of SC/ST, he said that three mobile transport units have been allotted to Udupi and Kundapur taluks which will look after the health needs of these communities.
Regarding education of the community, Sorake said that nearly ten candidates have been selected from the Koraga colony for the required teacher’s post in the Udupi constituency.
The education department also distributed laptops for SSLC boys and girls. As many as four laptops were given to the students.
During the meet, public also demanded to hold such public grievance meet once in three months.
Speaking about irregularities in purchase of goods for BCM worth Rs 19 crores in state, the minister said, “I do not have any idea of the fraud dealings. If I get the clue of irregularities from the Udupi hostels, I will take immediate action”.
He also added that Adani company has to give worthy compensations on acquired land, employment, CSR fund and panchayat tax before going for the extension of UPCL, Padubidri.
Sorake further said, “I am not in favour of gas based thermal project. If this matter came to the cabinet meeting, I will raise my voice against it”.
Speaking on sugar factory revival, he said, “there is a need to collect expert opinion by appointing an expert committee”.
Slamming PM Modi’s discrimination in relasing funds to state, Sorake, “He released Rs 1.25 crore for Bihar during election campaign but he did not release single penny for drought affected areas in Karnataka”.
