Udupi, Oct 13: “It is the duty of every citizen to live a life of harmony and trust without fighting in the name of religion”, said All India Sunni Ulama union Chief Secretary Sultanul Ulama A P Aboobacker Musliyar.
He was speaking after inaugurating and blessing air conditioned Hiba auditorium built at a cost of Rs 1 crore in the vicinity of Hajmady Kannangar Juma Masjid. “Religious harmony is the need of the hour and Muslims should be an example by loving people from other societies”, he said.
Minister of civic administration, Wakf and minority welfare, Khamarul Islam speaking on the occasion said that Karnataka government has spent highest amount in the department of minorities and is in the first place in the country. “The state government in the last 2-4 years has utilized several projects of the union government in the department of minorities. No other state has utilized those projects”, he said.
The government has released Rs 2.5 crores for each district. There are 124 hostels under the department and 170 new hostels are opened. An amount of Rs 26.33 crores honorarium is distributed among those who served in the Wakf board. Rs 50 lacs are released for this auditorium. Rs 25 lacs are paid in the first stage, he said.
Kannagar Juma Masjid president H B Mohammed who was responsible for the construction of attractive Mosque at Hejmady, Ministers Sorake, Khamarul and Oscar who had helped in the construction of Shadi Mahal were honored on the occasion. Padubidri station Police inspector Azmath Ali and ASI Kamalaksha also were honored on the occasion.
