Udupi, Oct 3: The inauguration of various new government office buildings and foundation stone laying ceremony was organized at Government PU College campus here. Oscar Fernandes, member of Rajya Sabha, inaugurated the new building and laid the foundation stone of Board High School.
During the occasion, he said that next year the college will step into its 125th year of celebration. He added that government schools have been performing better than private institutions. Fernandes has contributed around Rs 1 crore funds from the MP land scheme.
He further said, “If teachers put more effort into studies to get a good result, there is absolutely no doubt of getting 100 percent results. This year, you must try to occupy first place in the state.”
District-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, speaking after inaugurating the new traffic police station building said, “The education building was constructed as per the dream of Dr V S Acharya.” He expressed a great feeling about the school and said that the college had given many good personalities to society and led to many developmental works.
“Last year, district had failed to get top scores in the PUC final exam but this year they should work hard by taking it as a challenge. Udupi is the center for many first ranks even in the service of senior
citizens,” said Sorake.
He further said that if we adopted Gandhiji’s dream principals in our life, it would be a true tribute to his soul and said that another new central education center will be set up in Alevoor soon.
MLA Udupi Pramod Madhwaraj, after inaugurating the new building of the block education department said that there is need to work on getting back historical milestones. He urged the public to support work on it.
The total cost of this project is Rs 10 crore.
CMC president P Yuvraj, commissioner T Manjunathaiah, SD commission chairman Veronica Carnelio and DDPI Diwakar Shetty were present.
