Bengaluru, Sep 17: Energy minister D K Shivakumar, who was heavily criticized for making a statement that he would not supply electricity for festival related entertainment, has declared that there will be uninterrupted power supply during the celebration of Ganesh festival on Thursday.

It is learnt that this is not one day offer, but will continue for some days as the electricity shortage has not remained like in the past weeks. “Presently 6600 mega watts electricity is available. On Wednesday morning we had 7761 mega watts availability which is a big surplus. We have made sufficient arrangements to buy electricity in the future. We have reserved corridor for the import of electricity from outside states. We are pressurising the centre to provide us more electricity.” revealed D K Shivakumar in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

It should be remembered that recent rains also came to the rescue of the state.
