Lusaka, Sep 7 (IANS): Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya on Monday hailed the national team for its victory over Kenya in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match.
Zambia beat Kenya 2-1 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Sunday to brighten chances of qualifying for the 2017 Africa showpiece. "Like I told you last time, you are a capable lot that can write its own positive history. I want to congratulate you and also thank our God for this victory," Bwalya said in a statement.
He said the team has the capability to do wonders if they remain united and have self-belief.
The team had to come from behind to beat Kenya who had taken the lead in the 13th minute through striker Michael Olunga. The equaliser came in the 28th minute through striker Winston Kalengo, with veteran striker Collins Mbesuma scoring the winning goal in the 42nd minute.
