Taoyuan (Taiwan), Aug 27 (IANS): Indian amateur golfers Aditi Ashok and Karandeep Kochar finished 14th in the mixed team event of the Asia-Pacific Junior Golf Championships at the Par-72 Sunrise Golf and Country club here on Thursday.
Both players, currently ranked second in the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Order of Merit ended the three-day tournament with a total of 15-over 303.
IGU Order of Merit leaders, Shubham Narain and Ridhima Dilawari secured 15th place after scoring 16-over 304.
The Championship had a total of 25 teams and was represented by over 13 countries.
In the individual boys championship, Karandeep and Shubham finished tied seventh and tied 12th respectively while in the individual strokeplay girls competition, Ridhima and Aditi finished tied seventh and 15th respectively.
Bengaluru's 17-year-old Aditi got a very unimpressive round of five-over 77 as she had a single birdie on the 10th hole and bogeys on fourth, fifth, 13th, 15th, 17th and 18th, while Chandigarh’s Karandeep, 16, bogeyed fourth, fifth, 14th, 15th and made a single birdie on the sixth for a three-over 75.
"I didn’t play as well as I could have. I missed a few easy putts today which didn’t help me score but overall I was happy with my game and iron play,” 2015 British Ladies Amateur Champion Aditi said in a release.
Karandeep said: "I think I played pretty decent but made some silly mistakes. My hitting was good and I need to improve my putting to perform in international tournaments like these. This was a tremendous learning experience."
Delhi's Shubham, 17, who was playing well in the front nine after shooting a birdie on the sixth, suffered a triple bogey on the ninth followed by bogeys on 10th, 11th, 12th and then managed to convert another birdie on the 17th for four-over 76.
His teammate Ridhima, also 17, had a blemish free front nine but had a roller coaster ride in back nine as she made bogeys on the 11th, 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th and birdies on 12th, 16th for three-over 75.
"I think the round was good except for some bogeys in the back nine. Overall the round was good except for a few holes," said Ridhima.
Leading from day one, Korean team of Hyun-Kyung Park and Young-woong Kim won the inaugural championship at eight-under 280.
