Kenyan Yego wins world javelin title


Beijing, Aug 26 (IANS): Kenya's Julius Yego won the javelin gold medal with an effort of 92.72 metres at the World Athletics Championships here on Wednesday.

Yego's third round effort of 92.72 metres was the third longest throw so far and the longest since Jan Zelezny posted 92.80 metres in 2001, reports Xinhua.

Egyptian Ihab Abdelrahman El Sayed took the silver medal with 88.99 metres and Finland's Tero Pitkamaki, 2007 champion, clinched the bronze medal with 87.64 metres.
