Panaji, May 31: In the run-up to June two Goa polls, the entire state unit of Janata Party merged with NCP on Thursday in presence of latter's president, Sharad Pawar.
The party unit led by three-time legislator Surendra Shirsat, officially merged with the NCP.
"This merger will help NCP in Goa. It is very useful to build the party organisation in the state," Pawar told the media.
Announcing the merger, which he said was the "first of its kind in NCP," Pawar said the party had got a boost ahead of Assembly polls. "They (Janata Party) have joined without pre-condition and all the office-bearers would be given responsibility after Goa polls," Pawar said.
