Mangaluru: Man sentenced to 20 years RI, Rs 50,000 fine for abuse, abortion of minor

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Nov 22: The additional district and sessions court (FTSC-2 POCSO Special Court) sentenced K Sudhir (27), a resident of Koppadangadi in Kadirudyavara village of Beltangady taluk, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined him Rs 50,000 for sexually abusing, impregnating, and forcing the abortion of a minor girl.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl, frequently visited Sudhir’s house to watch TV during holidays. In late December 2021, Sudhir lured her to his grandmother’s deserted house under the pretext of going to a shop and sexually assaulted her. He later intimidated her, threatening to file false complaints to keep her silent.

Over time, Sudhir repeatedly assaulted the girl. In August 2022, she became pregnant. To cover up the crime, Sudhir and his friends planned an abortion in Chikkamagaluru, fabricating a story that Sudhir and the girl were married. On December 17, 2022, he misled the girl’s mother, took her to a hospital, and terminated the pregnancy.

A case was filed at the Beltangady police station under the POCSO Act. The investigation, conducted by circle inspector Shivakumar B and Satyanarayana K, included 24 witness statements and 62 records. Justice Manu K S found Sudhir guilty, ordering the fine to be paid to the victim.

Special public prosecutor K Badrinath Nayari argued the case on behalf of the prosecution. The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 2 lac to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.

To keep him 20 years in jail is not a proper punishment. It is a burden on tax payers money to feed him next 20 years in jail. Best way to damage his private parts . He should be made to work hard and pay his hard earning money to the family of that girl for the next 20 years under the strict supervision.

Fantastic judgement. But still one doubt, how and why hospital/ doctor not booked for? Even though fabricating a story that Sudhir and the girl were married, Why didn't hospital/doctor verifies the marriage testimony/ Aadhar card ete,

"The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 2 lac to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme. This amount should be paid by the guilty by the sale of his assets, increase it to 10 lacs. Shouldn't burden taxpayers for some elses crimes.

Every person has good and evil within him/her. It is upto that person to which force he/she surrenders. So sometimes even so called good people act as Satan. If there is a proper justice system, atleast there is a hope these evil forces could be controlled to a certain extent, for the fear of getting punished. But good upbringing with moral and ethical education right until one attains adulthood can help to build a better society .

This pervert is a curse to the society. 20 years jail is a very mild punishment. He should have given death sentence. We do not need him in our society!
