Kundapur, Jul 29: A protest was organized at Hosangady near here on Wednesday July 29 demanding employment for those affected by the Varahi project.

"The people who have lost land for the Varahi project have not been given employment yet. Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) should stop re-appointing retired employees and employ the unemployed for the vacant posts," said the protestors.

"Ever since the project started, no local has been employed as either an ordinary worker or a senior officer. But now they are employing people who have retired and cannot perform their duties properly. This is an insult to the locals. The locals should be employed immediately without any delay. If this is not done in the next fifteen days, we will go for a bigger strike," they said.

"People from this part should get water and proper road transport. Children here should get opportunity to study in the corporation school. The locals should also get medical facilities and ambulance services offered by the corporation. They should provide proper electricity connection, infrastructure, medical and free emergencies services to the locals," the protestors demanded, adding that they want high mast light facility at Hosangady circle.

The people marched from gram panchayat to the office of KPCL superintending engineer for Varahi at Hosangady, where the protest was held.

Gram panchayat president Yashoda, vice president Sridhar, Vasudev Yadiyala, Sampigedi Sanjeeva Shetty and others were present during the occasion.

i strongly disagree with you .if the people protesting here would have been got good jobs, they should be busy in some other way.the people who handed over the land to the project is not been facilitated and the promises given by the Government not fulfilled any of the localities had employed in this company ,surely the KPCL would have announced the details & the numbers of employees whom they have appointed the statement clearly shows the cause of Protest ,Do Agree there may be some back stage politics ,but when people come around & Protest We as a educated have to analyse & support instead of making above statement.
