Kuwait, May 25: Eric Ozario, president of Konkani Sahitya Academy and Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann who was on a brief private visit to Kuwait with his family, was felicitated by Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) on Friday 25.

Management committee members of KCWA met together for a short ceremony at Little India Restaurant. President Jossie Pinto welcomed Eric Ozario and appreciated his work and commitment towards Konkani language through Konkani Sahitya Parishad and Mandd Sobhann and wished him all the best.

Eric Ozario in his address briefed the members about the work and achievements of KSP, important among them being introduction of Konkani as an optional subject in schools from this academic year. In spite of numerous hardships and pressures within, he is able to achieve lot of success with the help and support of like-minded people. He reiterated that the success of teaching Konkani in schools depends on support of all Konkani lovers since government and academy are not able to support it fully.

He spoke about the achievements of Mandd Sobhann and his pet project Kalaangann and the future work to be done to preserve Konkani. He also expressed his desire to perform with his troupe in Kuwait in near future.

Members enquired on various activities of KSP and Mandd Sobhann, which were cleared by Eric. Vice-president Rudy D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
