Sao Paulo, July 22 (IANS): American football club Orlando City have made a $6 million bid for Sao Paulo's former Brazil international Paulo Henrique Ganso, according to reports.
Under the offer, the Brazilian outfit would receive $1.6 million in cash and settle a $4.4 million debt allegedly owed to the Major Soccer League (MLS) club. Orlando City claim the outstanding sum relates to Sao Paulo's failure to meet contractual obligations for their 2014 loan of veteran playmaker Kaka, reports Xinhua.
Ganso is enthused by the prospect of reuniting with Kaka in the United States. The midfielder has made 160 appearances for Sao Paulo since his 2012 move from Santos.
The 25-year-old was once considered among Brazil's most promising footballers and played a leading role in Santos' 2011 Copa Libertadores triumph alongside Neymar and Danilo, now at Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. But injuries and poor form have limited him to just eight appearances for Brazil's national team.
