Rio de Janerio, July 19 (IANS): Brazilian football club Fluminense has reported a 36 percent jump in club membership this week since the signing two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho.
Fluminense members rose from 25,000 to 34,000 since the 35-year-old joined the club on July 11, reports Xinhua.
"The R10 effect is even more impressive if you consider the club's stagnant membership figures since 2013. In two years the number had increased by just 3,000, a lot less than what Fluminense had hoped for," a Brazilian news report said.
Ronaldinho will earn about $190,000 per month plus $60,000 in add-ons.
Fluminense are currently third in Brazil's Serie A standings with 27 points from 13 matches.
Ronaldinho is due to be presented to the club's fans at the Maracana Stadium on Sunday but will only begin training on July 27.
