Los Angeles, Jul 13 (IANS): Actor Josh Gad, who plays Ludlow Lamonsoff in upcoming sci-fi comedy "Pixels", says he was excited for his role in the film because he has always loved arcade games.
"I was damn excited to get a chance to play out the iconic games from my childhood on an epic scale. I was born in 1981, right at the height of arcade fever.
"I had two older brothers, so I remember going to the local arcade in South Florida, it was called Grand Prix, and we would just play nonstop on a Saturday or Sunday. To get the chance to chase these creatures that I remember playing against as a kid was like being a child all over again," Gad said in a statement.
Directed by Chris Columbus, the man behind classics like "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", "Home Alone" and "Mrs. Doubtfire", the Sony Pictures' film also stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Peter Dinklage.
In the film, Sam Brenner (Sandler), Will Cooper (James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Gad), and Eddie Plant (Dinklage) -- children growing up in the 1980s -- saved the world thousands of times, that too at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. But now, they have to do it for real.
"Pixels" will release in India on July 31 in 3D.
