Chennai, Jun 29 (IANS): Tamil superstar Vijay agreed to do upcoming fantasy drama "Puli", which also features Bollywood diva Sridevi, only after his 15-year-old son Sanjay felt the script would be perfect for him, according to a source.
"When director Chimbudeven first narrated the story, Vijay heard it with his son Sanjay. Initially, Vijay wasn't sure if he should do the project as it had elements of fantasy and he'd never worked in this genre before," a source told IANS.
"As soon as Chimbudeven left after narrating the script, it was Sanjay who convinced his father to accept the offer. Sanjay told Vijay that the he should do the film as it will make him proud," the source added.
Tipped to be a big budget fantasy film laced with time-travel concept, the film also features Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani and Sudeep in important roles.
Reportedly, Vijay will be seen in dual roles, one of them of a warrior. Sridevi is essaying the role of a princess, while Hansika appears as her daughter.
Currently in its post-production phase, "Puli" is gearing up for release in August or September.
Devi Sri Prasad has composed the tunes for the film, which is said to be dubbed in Hindi for a wider release.
