Kasargod, Jun 27: Only a day after the family of five which had gone missing for a month and half was traced in Madikeri and brought back to Badiyadka, Uday (35) the chief of the missing family has been charged with rape.
Police have found out after medical tests at Kasargod general hospital that sister-in-law of Uday has been raped. Police who pursued the matter have arrested Uday with charging him with rape. The victim is a minor.
Uday married his wife after a love relationship. But the marriage was not registered. The couple have two small children. Police say that Uday fell in love with his sister-in-law later. His in-laws who came to know about this warned Uday. But on May 15 Uday disappeared suddenly from his house and took his wife, sister-in-law and two children with him. A case was registered in Badiyadka police station.
It is learnt that under pressure, Uday’s wife and sister-in-law accompanied him.
The family roamed around several places in Dakshina Kannada and Madikeri for one and half month. The Kasargod police had searched in Ujire, Dharmasthala, Udupi and other places for the family in vain.
A special team led by Kasargod DySP was formed to hunt down the family. Finally, with the help of the cyber cell, the family was traced in Madikeri on Jun 25 at a relative’s place.
After bringing the family back home, all the five members of the missing family were produced in court.
The police have let out other four and have arrested Uday.
