Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 24: Capt D S Jain (60), a pilot of Air India Express, died of cardiac arrest in a private hospital in the city on Monday June 22. He was a native of Gurgaon, Haryana, near New Delhi.

Capt Jain was the pilot of Mangaluru - Abu Dhabi flight operated by Air India Express. After the flight touched down at the airport here at around 5 pm on Monday, he reached a hotel near State Bank in the city, where arrangements for his stay had been made. Thereafter, he visited nearby Nehru Maidan for a walk, during which period he experienced severe chest pain. Immediately one of his friends admitted him into a private hospital in the city. He did not properly respond to treatments given in the hospital, and passed away at night.

On Tuesday, his mortal remains were taken away to Gurgaon by his wife, daughter, and brother, who arrived in the city by a air, by Jet Airways flight.

May his soul RIP. Just imagine if he had heart attack as he was landing the plane. Surely co-pilot would also gone into shock and would have resulted in another disaster in Mlore airport.

no dear ...its not bus lorry if a driver falls sleep. must be remembering the incident few years back pilots slept keeping in auto pilot mode. in case if a main pilot seeks emergency health issue then there is co pilot to operate -auto landing according to the instruction. there are other cabin crew staff too to attend such emergency case

    So sad. R.I.P.
His destiny was written like that. It is better we do regular checkups and monitor our wellbeing but no one can avoid ones fate. There are so many incidents of young people below the age group 20-30 yrs dying due to heart attack.

What if this 60 yr old pilot had got heart-attack while flying abudabhi->mlore with full pax strength? Retirement age reduced to 58 from 60 better to reduce to 55. There are so many jobless youths pilots

Are there medical tests to check the fitness or health status of people in critical jobs - pilots, train/road transport drivers etc? With sedentary or stressed out lifestyles, emergencies are common, a complete health certificate - periodic may help.
