Kundapur, Jun 16: A person who went missing under mysterious circumstances on Monday June 15 was found by night. The case, however, reached the police station and even assumed political colour. The incident took place at Anagalli here.
Ravi from Anagalli who owns a general store and an Omni car is a popular man in the vicinity. He supported a candidate in the gram panchayat elections who had the backing of BJP. The candidate won too.
After the results were out, it is said that some people tortured Ravi mentally and he disappeared on Monday suddenly.
Ravi was missing the whole day on Monday and could not be traced. It became a big news in the vicinity. But on the night of Monday Ravi was spotted walking on the Anagalli bridge. Some people brought him from there and dropped him at his house.
Ravi later revealed that he was indeed tortured mentally by some people and he went to Kodi beach and sat there disturbed by the events. The family members who heard his story took him to a private hospital in Kundapur and admitted him there for treatment on Tuesday. They said Ravi looked very much disturbed.
Ravi’s relatives have now lodged a police complaint at Kundapur police station and alleged that Ravi has been harassed, mentally tortured and assaulted. They have named Suresh Kanchan and Sharath Kanchan, both Congress workers, in the complaint.
Sources said that Ravi had previously supported Congress, but in the recent gram panchayat elections, he back the BJP candidate Prabhakar. Angered by this, some Congress supporters and workers had allegedly troubled him.
Congress-backed Anagalli gram panchayat president Suresh Nayak, reacting to the episode said, "Nobody kidnapped Ravi. Nobody harassed him and we do not have any wrong intention. I have been in public life for 15 years. We have lost this time. But we do not have any connection with this episode."
