Mangaluru, Jun 13: The police on Saturday June 13 arrested a person accused of attempted molestation and assault from Wenlock hospital here. The accused had reportedly got himself admitted to hospital and later refused to be discharged even though the doctors found nothing wrong with him, sources said.
The accused has been identified as Kotebagilu Subhashnagar resident Ravi Devadiga. He is accused of attempting to molest a woman, assaulting a youth, threatening people and stopping the police from discharging their duties.
The accused had allegedly pulled the sari of a woman at Kotebagilu and also attacked her son Mahanthesh with an iron rod. He had threatened the locals who had come to question his misbehavior. A complaint was registered against him in Moodbidri police station. He had also allegedly thrown kerosene oil cans on police who had gone to his house to arrest him after the complaint, thereby stopping them from discharging their duties.
The accused Ravi and his three daughters had got themselves admitted at Wenlock hospital alleging harassment by the police. Ravi had refused to get discharged from the hospital even though the doctors had said that there was nothing wrong with him and that he could leave.
The Moodbidri police then arrived at Wenlock hospital and arrested him on June 13 and produced him in Moodbidri court which sent him to judicial custody till June 26.
