Mangaluru, Jun 12: MLC Ivan D'souza visited the Mangaluru rural police station (Popularly known as Kankanady police station) and asked the police officials to shift the police station at the earliest here on Friday, June 12.
The said police station has been in news in the recent past for its bad state.
Speaking after the visit cum inspection Ivan D'souza said "This police station is in bad state. Newspapers have been reporting about this station for the past one year. I have raised this issue in the legislative council before six months. The home minister replying to this issue had said that once suitable land is identified, police station will be built with the state grant,"
"Police officials have been identifying a proper place for new station. Due to some technical issues there has been delay. Now I have directed the police officials to shift the station at the earliest and DCP Vishnuvardhana has promised that they will shift it accordingly. I have faith in them that they will take necessary steps in this regard. We all- myself, local MLA and district in-charge minister are committed to build a new police station in the new land and will give full support and do all that is necessary in this direction." Ivan added.

But we will shift this station at the earliest and find suitable land to build new police station."
