Mangaluru: Infuriated bull kills woman at Baikampady

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 11: An incensed bull pierced the abdomen region of a woman working as fish vendor on Wednesday June 10 with its horns. Revathi (58), a resident of Meenakaliya, Baikampady, lost her life in this tragic incident.

Revathi was returning home after selling fish at the fish market in Urva in the city as usual at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, when she saw two bulls fighting with each other in full spirit near her home. She crossed them by the side and was about to enter her house when one of the bulls suddenly pounced upon her. She suffered serious injuries in her head and abdomen region.

Although locals and auto drivers immediately took her to a hospital, doctors there could not save her.

Revathi sold fish, while her husband and a son work in country boat. Her three daughters have become inconsolable at the catastrophe that has suddenly left them high and dry. A report about the incident stands filed in Panambur police station.

Although movement of cattle in the region and occasional fights between them is common sight, so far no one had suffered because of them. On Wednesday however, the bull was so furious that it continued to kick the woman with its hooves and stub its horns into her body for sometime after attacking her. After the fight, it fought again with the bull with which it had a fight earlier, before walking towards the sea.

For the bull it may be a joke!!Maybe this lady worn red saree!!! If a bull looks at the red colour it becomes violent!! This I saw from my own eyes around 4 years back when I was walking somewhere near udupi krishna matt, at around 7pm a bull was chasing an elderly man, suddenly he went inside a shop, still the bull was waiting outside for some time, and walked off. When that man came out of the shop, i saw the man was in red clothes, which made the bull to get violent,You people believe or not I dont care!!!govt, should not allow these cows/bulls on streets, it will be a danger fo two wheelers as well..

Tragic incident! Cow protectors has an obligation to answer on wondering cattle! They live in apartment and cry for cow protection. Actual owner of the cattle is suffering! Due to the cow agitations such incidents are more likely in future. Unless people get educated and earn their daily bread, cow traffic may become a headache on road!!

Well, just so you know cattle are Red-Green color blind.. It is the movement and the red cape/flag that irritates a bull and incites it to charge (Referring to the bull fighting)

Very sad news but it is only the beginning. Once farmers cant take care of these bulls and leave them on its own, they will start roaming around the roads.

Its only one bull now. Imagine what will happen when people abandon their animals on roads in the near future.
Specially city like Mumbai there are thousands of cows and bulls on western suburb roads and if each cow cause any accidents then we need extra ambulances and extra insurance clauses.

Sad, First of all condolences to the bereaved family. Although incident like this happens very rarely, this incident must open the eyes of concerned authorities to prevent such attacks by bulls again in the future. And not at all this is the opportunity to blame each other in the name of cattle. Let the government take suitable action which leads to harmony in the society. If no action taken to prevent roaming uncontrolled bulls in the roads by the authorities by issuing suitable warning to the owners of the bulls, even the family of victim might think that the disaster might have prevented even by cattle thieves.

So sad and horrifying incident! Loss of an innocent resulting from a bull fight on the street…! My heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved family and can imagine the pain of the 3 daughters who were inconsolable upon receiving the news!

These kind of incidents will increase in the days to come and we will see more of such incidents, more cows & bulls on the roads and probably will see these cows & bulls meet the tragic end on the roads! How pathetic situation will be which is much worse than making cow slaughtering legal.

In the pretext of saving a life, please do not encourage robbery, fraudulent and out of the way deeds.
Giving and talking life is in God's hand but encouraging bad way of life and bad deeds is Satan’s order.
Human’s destiny is written whilst we are born.
    You like it or not.

    Sad incident. RIP

    Are these stray Bulls ?
Why our Municipality people allow such stray animals on the streets. These bulls are very dangerous or uncontrollable when they start charging passerby.
I remember those olden days (60-70'se) there used to be one solid (heavy weight) Bull in Hampankatta main street, Car street, and people never dared to pass close to it for fear of an attack. Only a bull fighter could tame .
That bull used to be color sensitive especially Red color.

Can imagine the shock and sorrow of
    your family members.
'Bulls when aroused/infuriated are deadly dangerous'.No comparisons. My study says that only 'an angry wife' comes somewhere near an 'infuriated bull'....
    Horns you ask ..aa?
No need...'A piercing tongue' makes for a 'formidable substitute'...
