Mangaluru, Jun 9: A person, who had succeeded in evading arrest after getting involved with a gang that had become notorious with the name 'Target', has been nabbed.
Akbar (24) from Mastikatte was arrested by Ullal police on Monday June 8.
The accused, along with others, had opened a travel agency named 'Target' at Mastikatte in Ullal. It is said that a ten-member gang, which also had two women members, had been put together by a person named Illyas. The gang used to take photographs of women in compromising positions with entrepreneurs, and then blackmail the victims by placing demand for large amount of money.
After the deeds of the gang came to light in the year 2013, ten persons were arrested. However, Akbar had succeeded in giving the police a slip and remaining elusive till now. The Ullal police, acting on information that Akbar was at Talapady, went there and arrested him. He was produced in court here.
