Kundapur: Two men drown in separate incidents

Kundapur, Jun 8: Two persons were found to have drowned in separate incidents here on Monday June 8. The incidents were reported near Anagalli and near Kandlur.

In the incident at Angalli, Prakash Pai (33), a resident of Kanyana, Hattiangady was found dead in a pond. He was working in Manipal.

The forest officials along with locals retrieved the body. Only voter id card was found in the deceased man's pockets. Having thus established his identity, Prakash's family members were informed.

Son of Krishnaraya Pai, Prakash had just finished two days of leave from work. On Sunday morning he left from home saying he was going to Manipal to resume duty. He left his mobile phone at home and took only his voter id with him, sources said.

In the other incident , a person identified as Shekar Devadiga (27) accidentally fell when crossing a river near Kandlur.

Son of Narayana Devadiga, Shekar used to do mortar work. On Sunday evening, he was crossing Kubja river between Kandlur and Soukur when he lost balance and fell into the water. His body was found on Monday.

Kundapur police have registered a case.
