Kundapur: 21-year-old arrested for raping, impregnating minor

Kundapur, Jun 3: Byndoor police have arrested a person for allegedly raping a minor girl in Maidinpura near Shiroor.

The arrested person is Abdul Paujam (21) from Mundalli, Bhatkal.

As per details, the accused knew the victim’s family for quite some time. Taking advantage of this, he frequently visited her house in Maidinpura and allegedly raped her. He also told her not to reveal this to anybody and threatened her with dire consequences if she did so.

However, the matter came to light when the minor girl became pregnant. Presently she is said to be seven months pregnant.

The father of the accused is no more and his mother being sick, has been taking treatment in a hospital in Chennai.

Byndoor police have registered a case under POCSO Act. The accused was produced in court after the arrest and medical examination at government hospital in Kundapur.

    This seems to be another 'consensual' affair gone sour as it is not all possible that the parents/relatives of the girl did not get even a small doubt when this mingling was going on for so long??

    The best way is to inculcate proper sexual education at a very early age including use of contraceptives etc.!!

    In one recent survey in Mumbai gynecologists were shocked to find a shocking rise in teenage pregnancies below the 15 age group, and some even having gone abortions without knowledge of parents (mostly from affluent class)!! Nowadays, teenagers, mostly from metro cities, the affluent ones become sexually active below the age of 15 years what with some reaching puberty even below 10 years!!

    Why is it always the male who is accused of wrong doing even in cases which clearly appear to be 'consensual'??? Why can't a female who is just below the legal age not seduce a major person into enjoyment and entice him to commit the act??

    The law today is totally skewed in favor of females and it is dangerous for a male even to talk or touch a female.

    The above is a personal opinion based on the conditions prevailing at the present point in time and not a posting to condone somebody of a 'wrongdoing'!!!

Just see worldwide crime scene, right from history, Christians have equal share of atrocities and crimes...     @vellano1 , Yes , Age of Puberty == Age of Marriage == Age of consent , because Nature never lies ! . If you can go back a couple years , even in Hindu marriage act it was same analysis. . In Hindu Manusmriti too , age of puberty is the default marriageable age. So its been increased due to fierce and vicious feminist movement in Malaysia in India . The Divine wisdom Sharia do not consider man made cults like feminism or secularism , its CONSTANT , Period !.

    Community leaders of the city could have finished the matter by means of compromise between two parties through tying the knots long time back instead exaggerating the issue in media.     This is the sad part..Whatever we are seeing in the media is just a tip of the iceberg..In my college days we had roommates from parts of Kerala who would tell us horrific stories which have happened to them as well as other kids, boys and girls alike..and it was chilling..Such stories never make it to the outside world due to social taboo and fear of family prestige and the victim suffers whole life with a personality disorder.

    @vellano1 , Why is that you always critical of 'old' man verses Teen girl relationships. R u ageist !? . Girls do have pro choice , if they opt for matured men that's their preference. Such relationships are very common along history and even today.Teenager Mother Marys sacred relationship with much elder Joseph , or Creator Brahma being very eldest ( grandpa ) of all creations and her wife Devi Saraswati being much younger.

    There r reasons for the existence of such relationships even today. Groom being breadwinner , deemed well settled , Older and wise to take care of family. On the other side Girl , the importance is being noble , chaste and virgin. The vitality of girl lies in her Teenage years.

    If he is hanged or stoned to death, what would be the future of the pregnant girl and unborn baby? Is there a chance to settle her in life with another man? What about the unborn baby? This case needs be viewed from different perspectives.
    He needs punishment and in the meantime, should be made to sign a pledge for undertaking responsibilities to look after both mother and the offspring upon completing his punishment.

    Henry, we are very selective when time comes. you ask for stone to death which derived from sharia law, but why dont you look in to total way of life in Islam, it teaches balanced life in all aspects except few bunch of people who goes to extreme ( I am not referring here those middle east countries who are struggling for their independence).when you are referring the pain little one had , I remember there was famous phrase by one of the respected nurse of mission hospital, where most of our family member goes for delivery and the head nurse who know to all and very friendly and she use to visit them while they are in labour pain and use to joke with them "why you are crying now for the pain where as you have enjoyed before knowing the consequences.

    Lack of sensitivity in a person is the major reason for rapes of minors, child abuse, unconventional sex etc. Earlier days, a picture on a news paper with a man slashed would make one throw up. But now, regular publishing of such pictures on evening dailies, made us little insensitive.

    Butchering a cow, blood splashing everywhere and feed a feast of the same dead animal is an example of lost sensitivity. So the same people are darer to commit a rape than a non-beef eater. That’s what we mean by Pettada maasada charbi!

    A rapist of humans will not spare animals too when his desire exceeds his control. However, a butcher does not kill humans just because his profession is killing - does he ?

    Therefore, do not compare rape with killing, both these acts need to be viewed separately. Secondly, we humans, living in a society, have a custom of publicly accepting a woman as a partner to have sex - not forcing onto her just because the males are physically stronger than females. A rapist, irrespective of his trade, profession, cast or religion is answerable to this social custom, in order to prevent other males from doing the same and exploiting all women that are not given to them by social custom to indulge in sex i.e. marriage.

    Therefore, eating habits do not compel a human being to sexual urge - its his ill-understanding of social behaviour. An offender must undergo trial/punishment and reform himself from repetition of crime.
