Mumbai, Apr 9: An unemployed man Kunal Thakur (21) killed his newly-wed wife Manisha (20) and mother-in-law Gayatri Gupta (45) at 5.30 am Sunday at in their house at Parasnath Jain Colony, Bhayandar (E).
Thakur attacked them with a bamboo and then bludgeoned them with a stone, after Gupta asked him to find a job for himself and take his wife away.
Thakur was staying at his mother-in-law’s home since the time he got married to Manisha seven months ago. Before marriage, Thakur, who is from Bihar, was staying with his brother in Bhayandar.
Manisha and her mother used to do odd jobs to run the house. Thakur fought with his mother-in-law regularly as he used to ask her for money and blow it up. He killed the duo in the presence of Manisha’s younger sisters Laxmi (12) and Asha Gupta.
Laxmi is the prime witness in the case. “We have registered a case against Thakur under Section 302 of the IPC (Murder).
The accused is absconding but our teams are out in Kurla and Mumbai Central stations and checking all trains plying to Bihar,” said N M Ingale, assistant superintendent of police, Mira Road Range.
