Mangaluru, May 14: Passengers of Abu Dhabi-Mangaluru-Mumbai flight on Thursday May 14 had a harrowing time as the flight got delayed by 12 hours.
Jet Airways officials in Mangaluru said that a technical snag had forced the delay.
Some of the passengers called daijiworld and complained that they had been stranded at Abu Dhabi and Mangaluru airports as the airline did not inform them in advance about the delay. Some of the families returned from the airport.
Airline officials said that the flight, which was supposed to land at around 2 pm, will now land after 2 am in Mangaluru and depart to Mumbai at 2.30 am.
Also, passengers in Mangaluru who were supposed to board the flight to Mumbai have been accomodate in another flight and flown to Mumbai via Bengaluru, official sources said.
However, souces said that passengers who were supposed to fly to Gulf destinations via Mumbai from Mangaluru were sent back and asked to come on Friday May 15. Some of the passengers in Mangaluru also said that no alternative arrangement was made via Bengaluru as claimed by the airline. A family of three women passengers from Udupi had to return from Mangaluru airport as they were told to come back on May 15.
Statement from Jet Airways
Meanwhile, Jet Airways in a statement to daijiworld said: "Flight 9W 501 (Abu Dhabi - Mangaluru) was today delayed at departure from Abu Dhabi due to technical reasons, with the departure time revised now to 8.30 pm, this evening.
"While the airline is addressing the issue with the aircraft, guests have been looked after, and have been served lunch and refreshments. Local guests have been requested to report later for the flight.
"Jet Airways sincerely regrets inconvenience caused to guests.
"At Jet Airways, safety is of paramount importance."
