Bantwal, May 11: Revenue department village accountant from Thumbay has ended his life in a Mangaluru lodge after consuming poison. This was discovered on Sunday, May 10.
Chidananda (33) is the person deceased.
The body was handed over to the family members in the afternoon On Sunday and the funeral was done later at Mysuru.
As per the 6 page death note left by the deceased, the reasons for the death were personal. He has blamed his depression and a prediction by an astrologer as reasons for the extreme step. He has specified that family members and colleagues are not responsible for his death in any manner.
Chidananda has been working in the same department from 2006. He worked in Alike and Kasba before and had a brief training in between in Mysuru. He lived in a rented house in B Mooda with his wife Chaithra and son Samrudh while he worked as village accountant at Thumbay. On Friday May 8, he met his friend Shivappa at B C Road and told him that he was going to Mysuru.
But on Sunday it was discovered that Chidananda had committed suicide after consuming poison in a Mangaluru lodge. The death note said that he was depressed by a prediction of an astrologer which said that his son Samrudh will have an early death. The father did not want to see his son in misery and die in front of his eyes.
The death note also says that he wanted to see his son as engineer or doctor which would not be possible as per the prediction of the astrologer.
The deceased requested that his wrist watch be handed over to his friend Shivappa and his son Samrudh should perform his last rites.
Host of officers from the government including tahasildar Purandara Hegde paid the respects.
K U Belliapap, the circle inspector of Bantwal police station has said that the matter would be investigated further and death note would be analysed.
