Puttur, May 9: Devastating Himalayan earthquake has shaken the whole world. Rescue teams have been working day and night to bring the situation into normalcy. Flow of help from good hearted donors has been pouring in.
One can see that lot of efforts have been taken in the state also to send the money to Nepal, the most affected place in the earthquake.
As expected some ‘collections’ for themselves instead of sending to Nepal have been taking place. Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district had asked to follow some norms while collecting money for the victims.
A team of three youths dressed like executives was found collecting money in Subramanya on Friday . They held a box which said they were collecting money for the earthquake victims. Their collections went on without any interruption until night on Friday when some doubted them. It is said that they were warned by some people against continuing the collection in the area.
The collection was done in the area very close to the police station. Upon enquiry, the youth revealed that they are from a service oriented organization in Davanagere . They did not issue any receipt for their collections. The total amount of cash they have collected in town is not known.
Public have been warned about the unauthorised collections in the name of earthquake victims.
