Bengaluru, Apr 29 (DHNS): The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided 13 government officials, including an IAS officer, for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The simultaneous raids were conducted at 36 premises in Bengaluru, Ballari, Bidar, Chikkaballapur, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Mandya, Mangaluru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru districts. The police have unearthed illegal assets to the tune of Rs 14 crore.

The officials raided are: Deputy Secretary Bangalore Development Authority, P Narayana Murthy; Director, Directorate of Women and Child Development B M Vijay Shankar (IAS); District Health Officer in Ballari, Dr G Ramesh Babu; First Division Assistant at Women and Child Development Office in Yadgir, Ashok Kumar Manikappa Akkanna; District Programming Officer at Women and Child Development Department in Chikkaballapura, S C Padmaraju; Junior Assistant at KIADB Dharwad, Martanda Shivappa Badiger; Assistant Executive Engineer KIADB Kalaburagi, Kashinath Siddaramayya Bidarkar; Executive Director at Karnataka State Finance Corporation in Bengaluru, Laxmappa Bimappa Nilogal; Village Accountant Kasaba Mandya, M S Siddegowda; Junior Engineer Mulky Town Panchayat in Mangaluru, K N Padmanabha; Assistant Executive Engineer National Highway Authority Sringeri Sub-Division, K S Chandrashekhar; Revenue Inspector Shivamogga, C Vijaykumar and Junior Assistant at Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Tiptur (Tumakuru district), Thimmaiah.

A senior Lokayukta police official said that IAS officer Vijay Shankar possessed immovable properties worth Rs 5.35 crore, including a house at Jayanagar ‘T’ Block (Rs 1.50 crore), a site and a complex in Jayanagar (Rs 3.50 crore), sites in Sampigehalli, Yelahanka and Mysuru. The official also possessed movable properties worth Rs 52 lakh.

BDA Deputy Secretary P Narayana Murthy owns ten properties in Bengaluru. The official possessed immovable properties worth Rs 1.75 crore, including a house in Banashankari (Rs 65 lakh), a site and a building Banashankari (Rs 38 lakh), a flat in Marathahalli (Rs 10 lakh), one more house in Kamakshipalya (Rs 5 lakh), three sites in KR Puram and Hebbal and properties in Amruthahalli, Chokkasandra and Basavanapura. The official also possessed movable assets worth Rs 25 lakh.

District Health Officer Dr Ramesh Babu owned immovable properties worth Rs 1.53 crore, including four commercial buildings in Ballari. The official's movable assets have been estimated at Rs 36 lakh. Ashok Manikappa, an FDA, owns immovable properties worth Rs 80 lakh, including sites in Bidar and Bhalki. The officials found that the official has built a commercial building worth Rs 35 lakh without CMC permission.

What they found

* Laxmappa Bimappa Nilogal, Executive Director at Karnataka State Finance Corporation in Bengaluru – immovable properties worth Rs 1.32 crore and movable assets worth Rs 5.5 lakh.

* S C Padmaraju, District Programming Officer at Women and Child Development Department in Chikkaballapura – immovable assets worth Rs 2.79 crore with 13 properties in Doddaballapura, including a lodge, bar and restaurant in Devanahalli (Rs 2.40 crore).

* Kashinath Siddaramayya Bidarkar, Assistant Executive Engineer KIADB Kalaburagi – immovable properties worth Rs 89 lakh and movable assets worth Rs 50 lakh.

Mangaluru: Lokayukta raids house, office of Mulky town panchayat engineer

Mangaluru, Apr 29: Lokayukta team in a joint operation, comprising officers from Mangaluru and Udupi, raided the house and office of Padmanabha K N on Tuesday, April 28. Padmanabha K N is a junior engineer at Mulky town panchayat.

Padmanabha was transferred only six months back from Moodbidri municipality to Mulky town panchayat. The officers from Lokayukta raided the house at belonging to Padmanabha at 6 a m on Tuesday at Jogi Nagar Moodbidri and inspected the documents related to jewellery and bank transactions.

Later at 9.30 a m the Lokayukta team raided the office of Padmanabha at Mulky town panchayat situated at Karnad, Mulky. It is said that the team took few files with them for further investigations after inspecting the files from office cupboard and laptop computer.

The officers from Lokayukta team said that there was a complaint from Lokayuktha inspector from Mangaluru Dilip Kumar that Padmanabha the engineer at Mulky town panchayat had wealth disproportionate to his known income. They said that this information was received from secret sources. Based on the complaint, Lokayukta raided the house and office of the said engineer led by Lokayuktha DSP Vithaldas Pai.

The Lokayukta team also revealed that after a thorough investigation, a report will be submitted to concerned authorities.

Inspectors from Mangaluru Vijayaprasad and Navinchandra Jogi, Inspectors from Udupi Mohan Kottary and Krishnananda with other personnel participated in the twin raids.

As per late information available, 3 sites, 2 two wheelers, 1 car, 383 grams of gold and 250 grams of silver were found to be belonging to Padmanabha K N. The Lokayukta officials have seized assets worth Rs 45.6 lacs.
