Bantwal, Apr 27: Romel Stephan Moras from Siddakatte in the taluk, who was in Kathmandu when earthquake devastated that region, is hale and healthy. This information was given by Romel's father, Ronad Moras, who said that he could speak to his son over phone.
This information has come as a huge relief to the family of Romel, which was worried about his safety and whereabouts, as all contacts with Romel were lost when he was in the Himalayan kingdom. Ronald Moras expressed his gratefulness to the Lord for shielding his son from nature's fury.
Ronald said he received information about the well-being of his son on Sunday April 26 afternoon, after which he added, a sense of lurking fear and tension which continued to bother him and other members of the family, evaporated. Romel Stephan Moras hold masters degree in business administration, and is employed in Clutch Group of Companies, Bengaluru. On April 22, he had left to Kathmandu in Nepal from New Delhi.
Immediately after the news of the earthquake spread, the youngster's family members were overwhelmed with worry, as efforts to contact Romen failed. Sangabettu gram panchayat member, Prabhakar Prabhu, contacted Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, MLC, Ivan D'Souza, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, and district superintendent of police, in an effort to elicit information about the missing youth. Under the directions of the minister, superintendent of police, Dr Sharanappa, had contacted officials at Kathmandu, and got information on Sunday morning that he was safe at Height Resort located at the base of the Himalayas.
Even after this information was received, the family members continued to be apprehensive, as they were unable to contact Romel over cell phone. On Sunday afternoon, they could call the landline of the said resort and speak to Romel Stephan Moras and heaved a sigh of relief after that. Romel told them that people of different countries have been accommodated in that resort, and that arrangements are being made to send them back to their countries safely. He asked his close ones not to worry about him. This instilled a sense of relief among the family.
Ronald said he was in constant worry and tension since Saturday afternoon, as he could not establish contact with his son, nor was he able to get any information about his safety. 'I however, was confident about the district administration and the government. Both of them have proved me right. We are now awaiting safe arrival of Romel back home,' he added.
