Chennai, Mar 15: AVM Saravanan and M S Guhan, the producers of Shivaji, have announced legal action against two websites for furnishing false news about the trade price of the same. According to the producers, this film was sold only for Rs.2.6 Cr in Kerala and Rs. 8 Cr in Andhra. In a statement, released yesterday evening, they said:
There are many erroneous reports published in the media about our forthcoming film Shivaji, which distressed us severely. Therefore we have decided to present the following facts about the film. "Two of the portals repeatedly reported that we have sold the Kerala theatrical rights of Shivaji for R.3.1 cr. But the fact is, we sold the same for only Rs.2.6.cr. In another portal, they had given wrong information about the film's sale in Andhra. They claimed that the theatrical rights for Andhra sold out for a record price of Rs.16 Cr. It is absolutely a false one. Actually we sold the Andhra rights of Shivaji for only Rs.8 cr. For Tamil Nadu, we are yet to start the business.
The Karnataka theatrical rights also still under discussion level. Unlike in the past, the overseas rights are not being given to a single entity. We are negotiating the rights for Audio, DVD, VCD and Theatrical rights for Europe, Canada, Middle East, Singapore and Srilanka with our regular distributor Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran Films international. We are still in the discussions to give the rights for the other countries like Malaysia, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Mauritius and other territories. We would like to request the media not to publish such false news about our film. Our producing house known for truth, will never hide anything about the business of the film. All the facts will be given to the media at the official press release only. The director of the film Shankar and his team are making all the efforts to release the film on Tamil New Year's eve."
