Bangalore, Mar 14: The South Indian film industry bombshell Shakeela will be in Bangalore. The sexy woman who created stir in the Malayalam film industry by even keeping top Malayalam film actors and directors at bay, is all set to promote her old film '16 to 60' which is be getting released to a good response after seven years later.
Yes, the film 16 to 60 was released during the year 2000, when it was abruptly terminated from theatres as by then Kannada Movie icon Dr Raj Kumar was kidnapped by the forest brigand Veerappan.
Then the film was released in the Movieland Theater. When Shakeela was at the helm of affairs, this Kannada film was made by one Malayalee producer Mohan who had infact decided to dub the films in other languages. Now, the film is running in its 5th week in theatres in Karnataka..
`Even now we are getting 1 to 1.5 lac collection after paying the theatre rent, the distributors say. To push the publicity of the film further, the distributors are planning to invite Shakeela to the theatre screening the film. The decision can really ignite the feelings of some of the volunteers of Kannada Rakshana Vedike who had protested against the screening of the film in the theatres. Now a distributor by name Ravichandran of “Dream films Distributors’’ who had earlier released another soft porn film Rambha has bought the re release rights of the film and has released it in Bangalore. The film got a decent opening and is on the way to break the records of another successful film Rambha.
Other well known sex bombs like Disco Shanti and Silk Smita have acted in this film. The film got a delayed release though the film was made in the early nineties. Shakeela looks very young and was beginning her days of acting career. Shakeela is presently acting in two Kannada films. Now, she will be presently shooting for Circle Rowdy which has Vinod Prabhakar in the lead and is directed by Rama Murty whose directorial careers seems to have resurrected with the success of Rambha.
Circle Rowdy director Ramamurthy says that Shakeela who is now recast in the image of comedy and vamp roles had first heard the story before accepting the offer. “She will be playing a maid servants role in the film. She has even agreed to to visit the theater in Bangalore on March 14. After that there will be a press conference for my film Circle Rowdy says Ramamurthy. Another interesting peice of news is Shakeela has already finished her shooting for the film Mataad Mataad Mallige directed by Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar. `In this film the film's producer K Manju has acted in a sequence along with the oomph woman Shakeela,' says Nagati.
