Kasargod, Apr 16: Kasargod district police commissioner Dr Srinivas led police team has arrested two suspected interstate thieves of vehicles. Two cars have been recovered from them.
The arrested are identified as Kasargod Padanna resident Noor Mohammed(35) and Kannur Irikkoori resident Sujay (31).
Investigations have revealed that the arrested persons have stolen more than hundred vehicles from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. It is said that more people are involved in the team and the police are searching for them.
Police have recovered an Indica car stolen from Bengaluru from them. Kasargod station police, checking vehicles at Kallangai on national highways in the city suburbs, had asked the Indica car to stop. As the car sped past them without stopping, the police grew suspicious and chased it. They were able to apprehend it at Karandakkad.
When the police questioned two people in the car, they gave vague answers. They were taken to the police station and interrogated further where they spilled the beans. Rs 60,000 was also recovered from them which was in the car.
Police have said that police cases in Payyanur, Chendera, Kannur,Tamilnadu and Bengaluru have been registered against Noor Mohammed. It is said that they were selling the stolen vehicles for cheap rates.
The Police are collecting more information from the arrested.
