Doha, Apr 14: Indian union minister of law and justice D V Sadananda Gowda was felicitated jointly by three apex bodies - ICC, ICBF and IBPN - in association with Karnataka Sangha Qatar at Intercontinental Hotel on Monday April 13.
The minister was on official visit to Qatar to attend for the UN Congress convention.
The event started with the opening remarks by the ICC general secretary Divakar Poojary.
Tulu Koota Qatar, a vibrant Indian forum from coastal Karnataka presented 'Yakshagana', a rich art form of Tulunadu, which got huge applause from the audience.
The dignitaries, Sadananda Gowda, Indian ambassador to Qatar Sanjiv Arora, and law secretary Prem Kumar Malhotra were later invited to the dais by the three presidents of apex bodies - K S Varghese, president of IBPN, Girish Kumar, president of ICC and Arvind Patil, president of ICFB.
The president of ICC Girish Kumar welcomed the visiting minister, dignitaries and members of the Indian community.
Indian ambassador to Qatar Sanjiv Arora addressed the gathering and briefed about Indo-Qatar relationship.
Sadananda Gowda while addressing the gathering appreciated the Indian community at Qatar for its efforts and contribution to the nation and keeping the rich Indian culture alive. He specially lauded the Yakshagana presented by Tulu Koota members for creating a homely atmosphere.
The union minister further elaborated the development of the new BJP-led government by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and its impact on the economic growth and developments.
Earlier the president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar Deepak Shetty gave a brief introduction of the visiting union minister.
The minister was felicitated by presidents of ICC, ICBF and IBPN followed by the felicitation by Karnataka Sangha president Deepak Shetty, Tulu Koota president M Ravi Shetty, KMCA president Niyaz Ahmed, Bunts Qatar president Prakash Chandra Ajila, MCC vice-president Prakash, SKWA general secretary Shoheb and Qatar Billawas cultural secretary Sudhir Kotian.
The event concluded after a photo session and vote of thanks proposed by IBPN general secretary Yaser Nainar followed by gala dinner to all.
