Mangaluru, Apr 11: Thieves broke into the house of former MLA and poet, the late B M Idinabba, at Mastikatte, Ullal late night on Friday April 10 and decamped with gold and cash worth nearly Rs 9 lac.
Badruddin, son of the late Idinabba had gone out to attend a function with his family. The theft came to light when they returned at around 10.30 pm.
The thieves entered after breaking the back door and decamped with jewellery worth nearly Rs 8.5 lac and Rs 40,000 cash.
Ullal police, forensic experts and canine squad arrived and conducted investigation.
This is a second incident of theft in Ullal police station limits in the last two weeks. Valuables costing several lacs were stolen from the house belonging to Saraswati in Kolya last week. Thieves from outside the district have also been caught during Uroos programme. People have urged the Ullal station police to be more alert.
