Mangaluru, Apr 6: In yet another case of its kind, the officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Monday April 6 seized gold worth Rs 15.71 lac concealed in the rectum of a passenger.
The accused passenger identified as Sabir Berka (19), a resident of Kasaragod, was arrested and produce before the chief judicial magistrate.
The customs officials seized gold in the form of two cylindrical rod shaped objects totally weighing 583.3 grams of value Rs 15,71,944, from the passenger, who brought these gold rods by concealing them in his rectum.
Berka arrived at Mangalore International Airport at about 8.25 hours by Jet Airways flight number 9W531 from Dubai.
Further investigation is under progress.
This is the fourth such case in the last two months at Mangalore International Airport.
