Hollywood, Mar 1: Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor celebrated her 75th birthday on February 27.
 
Elizabeth was born in Hampstead, London, England to American parents. Elizabeth's father, Francis Lenn Taylor, was an arts dealer and her mother Sara Viola Warmbrodt an actor. Her first screen hit, National Velvet came in 1944.

Elizabeth's first husband was Conrad Hilton, Jr, an American socialite and heir of the Hilton hotel chain. They married on May 6, 1950 and divorced in 1951.

She married British actor Michael Wilding in 1952 and divorced in 1957. The couple had sons Michael Howard and Christopher Edward.

She married Michael Todd, American TV and film producer on February 2, 1957. They had a daughter Elizabeth Frances (Liza) Todd on August 5 that year. He died on March 22, 1958, in a plane crash, leaving Elizabeth a widow.

Elizabeth Taylor married Eddie Fisher, singer and actor, who was her former husband, Michael Todd's friend in 1959. The couple divorced in 1964.

In 1963, she became the highest paid movie star up until that time when she accepted $1,000,000 to play the title role in Cleopatra. It was during the filming of that movie that she worked for the first time with future husband Richard Burton, who played Mark Antony.
 
Elizabeth married Burton, critically-acclaimed actor with whom she acted in 11 films that include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (won her an Academy award in 1966). The couple divorced and remarried only to divorce again.

Elizabeth Taylor married John Warner, American statesman and politician on December 4, 1976; they divorced on November 7, 1982.

She met Larry Fortensky in a rehab clinic. The couple married in 1991 and divorced five years later.
 
Taylor has been married eight times to seven husbands.

One of her widely discussed roles was as Cleopatra VII of Egypt in the 1963 film, Cleopatra where she was paired with Richard Burton.
