Udupi, Apr 2: In yet another incident of its kind, a man who ordered a power bank (battery charger) from popular online shopping portal Flipkart found a stone inside the package instead of the power bank.
Rajesh Nayak from Manipal on Thursday April 2 alleged that he was cheated by Flipkart online shopping site, from where he had purchased the power bank worth Rs 1,499 with cash-on-delivery option.
He had placed the order on March 25 and on March 28, he received intimation that the product was ready for dispatch.
On Thursday morning, when he received the package, he paid the money and opened it in front of the courier delivery agent, and was shocked to find a stone instead of the power bank.
Rajesh then filed a complaint at Flipkart Manipal branch through the delivery agent. Flipkart personnel in Udupi treated the incident with top priority. His money was returned in full.
Speaking to reporters, Rajesh said, "How can such things happen with a popular online shopping site that has a systematic delivery and tracking process? It is a lesson for all online shoppers. Nowadays such incidents are happening every now and then, so people should be careful."
Speaking to daijiworld, the delivery agent of Flipkart said, "We get packages from different places like Chennai and Mumbai. Our job is only to deliver, we do not open the packages here. Hence we cannot know what is inside. We do not have the facility to scan the product, we can only scan the item code. Flipkart employees had demanded full-fledged scanner facility and even protested about 10 days back, but to no avail."
This is the second such incident in the past one month. On March 12, a photographer in Udupi who had ordered an expensive camera also received a stone in the package instead of the product he ordered. His money was returned by Flipkart.
