Mangaluru, Apr 2: A youth was allegedly assaulted by a group of 10 persons in broad daylight at Kankanady here on Thursday April 2.
Naseer (22) who was travelling from Farangipete to Mangaluru by bus was allegedly pulled out from the bus and assaulted by the group.
It is said that 10 persons followed the bus on five bikes, one of which did not have number plates. When the bus reached Kankanady, they waylaid the bus, dragged him out and assaulted him with iron rods and sticks and abused him, states the complaint. They then fled from the spot.
Naseer was accompanied by his cousin Malik and and friend Nisar, but they were not assaulted. Naseer travels from Farangipete to Mangaluru by bus every day for work, his father said.
An injured Naseer has been admitted to hospital.
He has identified five of the ten assaulters as Sandesh from Kumpala, Gautam from Maripalla, Bharatkumar, Manoj Acharya and Santhosh from Thumbay.
The reason for the assault is yet to be ascertained.
A case has been registered in Kadri police station based on a complaint filed by Naseer's father.
