Kuwait, Mar 29: Kanajar Welfare Association Kuwait (KWAK) celebrated its 15th anniversary with a specific motto of raising funds for charitable causes back home in India. The programme was presented before a packed audience at the American International School, Maidan Hawally on Friday February 13. The successful event as acclaimed by the houseful audience comprised melodious songs, foot-tapping dances and a hilarious Konkani drama 'Maka Nangi’ written by Pradeep Barboza, Paladka.
The total proceeds of the event INR 7, 33,024 generated after deducting minimal expenses were distributed among the two needy institutions:
- Snehalaya Psycho Social Rehabilitation Centre in Mangaluru.
- Manasa Rehabilitation Centre in Pamboor, Udupi district.
Br Joseph Crasta of Snehalaya assured KWAK that the amount received would be used for the purchase of a much-needed ambulance and Sr Thelma of Manasa conveyed that the amount received will be utilized for CCTV surveillance system in the Manasa premises.
Antony Victor Miranda, president, KWAK expressed his gratitude to all the generous sponsors, well-wishers and the audience who wholeheartedly supported and encouraged KWAK’s new faces and budding talents for their performances entwined with the noble causes undertaken by KWAK.
