Mumbai, Mar 24: A sessions court on Tuesday has ordered actor Salman Khan to record his stement on the hit and run case of 2002 in which he is the prime accused for driving a vehicle over and killing four people who were sleeping on the pavement.

The Bollywood actor will be given a fair chance to place his side of the story before the judge while the judge is expected to take the opportunity to ask the accused of any details about the case, that he requires. The order was passed by Judge D W Deshpande in consultation with the public prosecutor as well as the defence council Shrikant Shivade. Reportedly 25 witnesses have thus far given their statements before court and the investigating officer Kishen Shengal is said to be currently presenting his stance before the court.

The court is yet to decide on the plea submitted by the defence council asking for another investigation officer assigned to the case Rajendra Kadam to appear before the court for questioning.

The actor who also has an animal hunting case against him, was arrested at dawn on the 28th of September, 2002 for driving his vehicle into a bakery and injuring the people who were asleep on the pavement in front of it. The trial, this time round has the accused charged for the killing caused while the previous one was on the drivers negligent driving.
