Mangaluru, Mar 19: Following the alleged kidnapping and manhandling of a student nun in the city in broad daylight on Monday March 16, the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Kadri police station has been suspended.
As per the order issued by police commissioner S Murugan, Kadri ASI Kamala has been suspended for delay in accepting the complaint.
It is learnt that when the victim went to the Kadri police station to file complaint, both inspector and sub-inspector were not in the station, but instead of accepting the complaint and informing the higher officials, the ASI is said to have told the victim to wait till the inspector returned. This undue delay aggravated the anxiety of the nun who was already traumatised by the abduction incident.
The nun later brought the matter to the attention of higher police officials, and S Murugan, taking serious note of the complaint, initiated disciplinary action against the ASI and issued the suspension order.
