Mumbai, Feb 25 (IANS): Jasbir Bhati, credited as the director of successful TV series "Kkusum", is now all set to make his big screen debut with the film "Bhouri".
"I wrote the film's script with my friends. We have been working on this script since 2006. After its completion, we approached Chandrapal Singh (producer), who didn't take long to jump on board," Bhati told IANS.
What took so much time?
"As a creative person I wanted to explore more. I wasn't creatively satisfied, I had this nagging feeling that I am getting creatively stagnant," he added.
The film's cast includes a newcomer, a Scottish lady, who plays the love interest of Raghubir Yadav. The other actors are Marsha Paur, Kunickaa Sadananand, Aditya Pancholi, Mukesh Tiwari, Mohan Joshi, Manoj Joshi and Sitaram Panchal.
Talking about the concept of "Bhouri", Bhati said: "Set in the backdrop of rural India, my film deals with various social issues of women. Bhouri is beautiful and tragically she goes through horrible ordeal because of her beauty.
"The film highlights the exploitation of women in a male-dominated society. It's a heart-wrenching love story."
It is being produced under Singh's banner of S. Video Pictures Pvt Ltd.
