Kolkata, Feb 23 (IANS): Swine flu has killed five people in West Bengal this month, Minister of State for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya said Monday.
Replying to questions in the state assembly, Bhattacharya said 67 people have been afflicted with the disease so far in Bengal.
While the government had given the toll as four till Sunday night, the number increased after the health department received the delayed report of the death of a patient in a private city hospital Feb 21.
Bhattacharya said all measures have been initiated to prevent the diseases from spreading. Hospitals have adequate stock of medicines and test kits to tackle the viral disease.
